Looking to build on a stellar first season in BUCS Northern Premier and their promotion to NBL Division 1, on Monday the Knights signed former Saint Francis forward Patrick Wrencher to the first professional deal in the club's history.
Wrencher played a total of 79 games for his career at Saint Francis, shooting a very efficient 52.8% from the field over this span. In addition to playing for Team Newcastle, Patrick will pursue his master's degree in Global Resource Human Management. He brings a wealth of experience from his time in NCAA Division 1 as well as the toughness and leadership qualities the club needs in order to continue their recent success.
Head Coach Ian Hewitt had this to say: "Patrick is very exciting signing, he is our first professional overseas signing and he was a very dominant low block player in NCAA Division 1. I have no doubt Patrick will thrive on the opportunity we offer here at Newcastle and he will be giving a lot of teams problems on both ends of the floor."
Further player announcements are expected over the coming weeks as Team Newcastle look to build a squad capable of challenging for honours this season.
